Why cultivate microalgae?
Raw materials from microalgae have found their way into food, animal feed, health products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
Just to name a few: omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, immune system enhancers, vitamins, protein supplements, oils for food and cosmetics, structural carbohydrates, pharmaceutically active polysaccharides.

Industrial microalgae production
Microalgae may be produced by photosynthesis: growing on artificial or natural daylight or on organic carbon sources, such as sugar, just like animal or bacterial cells. In the latter years, LED light has become competitive to natural daylight for photosynthetic production.
